February 25, 2026

In our third episode, we talk to Ken Nepple, MD FACS, a clinical professor and Associate CMIO at University of Iowa Health Care. In addition to Ken's dual roles in his day to day life, he also serves as unofficial 'resident skeptic' of new technology. Ken has been deeply involved in the introduction of a huge variety of technology throughout his career. From his early years seeing the adoption of robotics in urological surgery, through to implementation & adoption of the EHR and now a variety of AI tools that he makes a part of his daily workflows. You get an immediate sense for Ken's passion for medicine, for technology, but more than anything for practicing at the top of his license.
