ICANN and I Will – The End of the .com Domain Era

The Internet has now moved into a new era after The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) voted 13 - 1 in favour of accepting applications for generic top-level domains. What does this mean? It means the reign of the .com, .net, and .org domain suffixes is over. Soon they will just sit alongside a plethora of other domain suffixes with a much more focussed agenda.

Beam Me Up

Where is Stephen Hawking when you really need him? I’ve been trying to wrap my head around this one for a while. The great thing about amazing technology is that you don’t need to understand how it works to derive a benefit. I am using a wonderful microprocessor right now, and yet I have forgotten all the important lessons from those long ago computer architecture courses. Teleportation is one of those things you wouldn’t need to understand to use. At this point even the biggest brains in the world don’t know how it works, but the results they are getting are amazing and could completely revolutionize all forms of communication. Imagine never needing a wireless signal, hard line, or beam of light to communicate from anywhere (literally) to anywhere in real time.
